Havana.- Enrique de la Madrid, new head of the Mexican Tourism Secretariat, visited Havana with de official mission of explore Cuban Tourist sector.
The Mexican official was interested in Mexico participation in explore investment opportunities in this key sector in Cuba.
The website of the Mexican Editorial Organization (OEM) said De la Madrid arrived in Havana accompanied by 40 businessmen interested in knowing the portfolio of projects offered to foreign capital by the Cuban nation.
The arrival of tourists to Cuba rose sharply in the first quarter of 2015, after the historic diplomatic rapprochement with the United States. In the first three months of the year 15 percent more visitors came to the island, noted Cuban Tourism Minister Manuel Marrero.
“The first quarter of this year has been great,” Juventud Rebelde newspaper quoted Marrero saying during the opening of the Varadero Gourmet Festival at the resort peninsula located about 140 kilometers east of Havana.
